We are seeking a Construction Quality Control Manager for our federal team. This is a Remote / Virtual role that gets to support our entire business with overall management of the Johnson Controls Federal (JCFS) Quality Program to include internal business relationships with Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Sales, and other JCFS groups with a focus on activity related to business and contract quality processes. In addition, it may help on other related programs associated with the broader JCFS business such as Environmental Safety and Health, Training and internal Security. As part of the Operations planning team, works with Johnson Controls Federal Executive & Regional Leadership to identify and manage Key Performance Indicators.

Location: Remote / Virtual (work from home) with the ability to travel as needed. Huntsville, AL preferred

As a Business Quality Manager, you will:

 

  • Serves as the single point of contact to the JCFS Senior Director of Operations regarding the Quality Program and all project management technologies and program related activities.
  • Develops comprehensive plans to communicate quality, operational needs, strategic plans, key project drivers, project organization, and business opportunities across multiple regions
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for project management technology program related issues within the broader organization on all issues related to quality, project processes, program management, and related JCFS internal departmental issues. Leverages relationships to position the Organization’s selected project management (PM) technology programs as the preferred programs under the JCFS umbrella.
  • Works closely with leadership team to communicate standardization and efficiency opportunities and to understand critical Johnson Controls business opportunities. Responsible for understanding and translating the strategic direction for internal departments so that project processes and procedures can be developed, updated, and implemented in PM technology programs
  • Provides leadership and direction between internal departments and Johnson Controls Federal Systems Operations entities both CONUS and OCONUS related to installation and maintenance projects
  • Executes regular business reviews with the Regional Managers (RM’s) to gain insight into their mission and pain points. Advises Regional Managers, Operations Leaders, and Project Managers on usage and implementation of the PM technology programs on projects and other ways to effectively achieve project quality goals.
  • Provides reporting metrics on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to JCFS leadership
  • Leads process of educating internal and external customers on the Quality Program and the PM technology programs through forums such as lunch and learns, web-based conference presentations and on-site training.
  • Coordinates efforts with Sales & Proposal Managers and Business Analysts to incorporate pursued RFP’s and awarded projects into the PM technology programs
  • Provides coaching, writing, editing, and overall quality control to assist sales and operations in the development of project staffing plans, project communication plans and project documentation


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience work with quality management programs for construction or building related systems or services. 7+ years preferred
  • Construction Quality Control Manager (CQM) certification through USACE
  • 4+ years’ experience with Procore, preferably as a Procore Administrator or with training experience in Procore project management tools
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in directing a technical team requiring multi-project management skills
  • Excellent business analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Formal report writing experience with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of common computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.).
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of federal government contracts, including IDIQ’s
  • Familiarity with United Facilities Guide Specs (UFGS)
  • Knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1 safety standards
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or training

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related technical field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
