Business Analyst – Energy and Utilities
We seek a skilled Business Analyst with a demonstrated understanding of the energy and utilities sector. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in identifying business needs, translating them into actionable requirements, and driving the successful implementation of solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize performance. Your insights will guide decision-making and inform the development of processes, systems, and strategic initiatives for our company.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Needs Elicitation:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments (e.g., operations, customer service, finance) to understand their challenges, pain points, and process improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate workshops and conduct interviews to gather and analyze business requirements meticulously.
- Requirements Analysis and Documentation:
- Develop, refine, and prioritize detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
- Create clear and concise documentation, including use cases, process flows, data models, and user stories, ensuring alignment with technical and business goals.
- Solution Design and Collaboration:
- Translate business needs into technical solutions, working closely with development teams, vendors, and subject matter experts.
- Propose and evaluate alternative solutions, considering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with overall business objectives.
- Testing and Implementation Support:
- Design and execute test cases to validate solutions against requirements.
- Actively participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), providing guidance and troubleshooting support.
- Develop training materials and facilitate user training to ensure smooth transitions and adoption.
- Process Mapping and Improvement:
- Analyze and document as-is and to-be business processes, identifying bottlenecks and redundancies.
- Recommend and implement process optimization solutions to enhance efficiency and improve workflows.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a proven track record within the energy and utilities industry.
- Experience with energy-related systems and technologies (such as SCADA, AMI, OMS, CRM, billing systems) is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in process mapping and requirements documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Jira).
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Domain Expertise:
- Understanding of industry-specific terminology, regulations, and operational processes in the energy and utilities sector.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in energy markets, smart grid technologies, and sustainability is a plus.
