Job Description
We’re Whitetail Hill Chestnuts, a tree nursery specializing in producing trees for wildlife habitat improvements and restoration. We’re looking for a driven, well rounded, and highly competent individual to fill our Administrative Manager position. This position will report directly to executive management and assist with or oversee any administrative tasks involved in general operations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Research and explore new projects to compile reports and proposals as needed by executive management
- Oversee the implementation of new projects or ventures
- Must be able to prepare and understand the details of preparing live payroll, payroll tax, and sales tax returns
- Must have understanding of accounting/bookkeeping and business taxes to act as liaison between the business and accounting firms
- Manage Accounts Payable, handling contractors, suppliers, and set up building and equipment maintenance as needed
- Manage all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, maintaining employee files, tracking employees and administering eligible benefits
- Maintain business licenses, tax accounts, and insurance
- Handle procurement of resources needed for operations
To provide a better understanding of what this job will entail day to day we’ve included some examples of tasks/projects you may be tasked with in this position.
Example tasks:
Ex. 1) Our shipping staff is shorthanded. You’re tasked with posting a job listing to job boards to recruit candidates, interviewing those candidates, and onboarding them as new hires.
Ex. 2) We’re considering entering into a new product space. You’re tasked with researching the viability of this idea based on market data, estimating the resources needed execute this, and identifying the necessary suppliers to implement the project. You’ll compile all of this information and report back to executive management about your findings.
Ex. 3) We change service providers for our sales tax filings. You’re tasked with coordinating the move which will include onboarding the new service provider, overseeing the transition of our accounts, data, and records, and verifying that the new service provider is up and running accurately and efficiently.
Salary and Benefits
Salary
$58-$70k
Profit Share
A 10% portion of your starting salary will be a profit share
This profit share portion of your salary will track directly with net company profits annually. If we do better as a company, your salary increases directly. Adjustments are calculated annually and are applied as an adjustment to your total salary the following year. Adjustments compound year over year. We are a rapidly growing company and we expect this growth to continue.
See example below for further explanation:
Ex.) You’re hired at a starting salary of $70,000. A $7,000 portion of your salary is profit sharing. During your first year of employment (2024) company profits increase by 50%. The profit share portion of your salary increases by 50% from $7,000 to $10,500. Your total salary for 2025 is now $73,500 and is adjusted to the new rate in January of 2025. The following year (2025) profits increase by another 50%. The profit share portion of your salary increases from $10,500 to $15,750 resulting in a total salary of $78,750 for 2026.

Minimum Qualifications
- 3yrs experience in a related role such as General Management, Business Administration, Department Management, etc. (past entrepreneurship may be considered in lieu of employment experience)
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field
