Job Summary: Responsible for driving students to the regional programs after school and may also fill in on an as-needed basis for field trips, sports events, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Drives assigned vehicle safely, observing Connecticut motor vehicle laws and regulations; observing Region 1 School District safety and security procedures
- Maintains schedules; adheres to established routes; contributes to scheduling decisions to increase efficiency or safety
- Maintains cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicle. Reports problems to Principal of Kent Center School
- Keeps accurate records: daily mileage log, weekly service log, accident reports, confidential emergency cards for each passenger
- Creates a safe, comfortable and orderly atmosphere for passengers. Reports incidents or challenging behavior of passengers to Principal of Kent Center School
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- Must have a high school diploma/GED
- Valid Connecticut license with an "A" endorsement; clean driving record
- Requires ability to communicate with children, parents and teachers. Must be able to establish a positive relationship with children to maintain order and handle emotional or behavioral problems
- Requires accountability for decisions made regarding discipline, orderliness and road emergencies
- Ability to work independently, w/excellent judgement, in the best interests of the passengers and the District. Errors in judgement may reflect negatively ont eh District and effect continued employment
