Job description

Established in 1966, the City of Hornell Housing Authority and its affiliated entities provide rental subsidy to 284 households and owns and manages 147 units of mixed finance affordable housing in the City of Hornell. Our staff operates in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner supporting those in need move toward economic self-sufficiency.

Primary Job Duties:

Revitalizes apartments once they become vacant. Performs the following work: paint walls, basic carpentry, repair or replace floors, cleaning, checking heating and cooling equipment, appliance, cleaning the exterior grounds, check if electricity is functioning properly, inspects for clogged drains and leaky pipes, install/remove A/C units, inspect apartments for preventative maintenance, identify pest infestations, removes garbage and personal property left behind, lawn care, snow and ice removal.

Requirements

· High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)

· 2 years of experience in general building construction or maintenance work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing or electrical.

· Must possess a valid drivers' license and an acceptable driving record

· Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. is essential

· Good communication skills are required

· Must possess a mechanical aptitude

· Dependability is critical

· Basic computer skills are essential
