Job Description
Summary:
The Building Maintenance Repairperson is required to work independently and perform installations, maintenance, and repairs of all items pertaining to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building repairs. Employee may be required to plow snow during emergency situations.
Relationships:- Reports directly to Building Maintenance Supervisor
- Employees from all ITRCC departments
- Performs all tasks safely, complies with all internal and external safety requirements, supports ITRCC safety culture, attends all safety trainings and completes all compliance trainings as required by ITRCC.
- Uphold ITRCC’s core values: Customer Service, Respect, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork (CREST).
- Build and replace components of HVAC systems, including compressors, relays, motors, capacitors, etc.
- Repair and replace boiler components, including valves, pumps, piping, water level gauges, pressure valves, etc.
- Repair and replace plumbing fixtures to include toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets, etc.
- Inspects, tests, and repairs roadway lighting systems
- Repair and replace electrical distribution systems, including breaker panels, switches, receptacles, light fixtures, etc.
- Maintain air-handling equipment such as belts, pulleys, motors, coils, controls, etc.
- Uses locator equipment for underground utilities
- Repairs and replaces Dutch doors, sliding doors, cash drawers, and windbreakers that are part of the toll booths
- Keeps up-to-date records of repair tickets and inventory balance on equipment assigned to maintain
- Maintain an organized inventory
- Maintains fuel site equipment
- Operates a High Lift bucket truck while repairing roadway lighting and overhead equipment
- Opens clogged drains and fixtures
- Installation including conduit, breakers, lugs, etc.
- Works with plumbing and piping, including all types and sizes
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments
- Starts and observes devices to test their performance
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations or departmental policy
- Responsible for assuring the safety of co-workers and visitors by having a working knowledge of fire, safety, and disaster procedures
- Climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, and crouches to repair or install
- Near-visual acuity for reading blueprints and specifications
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school graduate/ GED
- Must be able to distinguish colors for coding of electrical wires and identify piping
- Numerical ability is needed to make calculations for installation and repair of equipment
- Must be able to safely cut, drill, shape, and paint material
- Basic welding and proficient soldering, brazing, and burning skills are required
- Must be able to organize, prioritize, and schedule job-related duties
- Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or better.
