Work requires the use of technical knowledge and discretion in reviewing building plans and conducting field inspections within areas of Licensure.
- Inspects buildings and properties for Code Compliance.
- Approves plans within the limits of inspector licensure as defined in Florida Statute 468.
- Issues written and/or verbal correction notices, stop work orders or approvals per department procedures.
- Maintains accurate records of assigned duties and functions.
- Performs related work as required.
- During emergencies, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to work and perform alternate duties.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-years' experience as inspector, builder, engineer, architect, or similar profession.
- Must have 2 inspector/plans examiner licenses (one of the required licenses must be Residential 1 & 2 Family Dwelling Inspector) or, have the ability to obtain professional licensure in 90 days and standard licenses within 1 years of date of hire as defined in Florida Statute 468.
- Valid State of Florida Driver's License.

- Knowledge of applicable building codes. Ability to review projects, plans and specifications for proposed construction.
- Ability to provide assistance to builders, developers, architects, engineers, homeowners, and other customers as related to building code matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
