We are actively hiring for Building Enclosure Associate opportunities in the following locations: 

  • Houston, TX (curtain wall or roofing preferred)  
  • Milwaukee, WI (existing enclosures preferred)
  • Nashville, TN (Hybrid) (Hybrid) (existing enclosures preferred)
  • Northbrook, IL (Global HQ) (peer review or roofing/waterproofing a plus)
  • Seattle, WA (roofing/waterproofing a plus)

Typical Responsibilities: 

  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day success of multiple projects, including acting as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams; training and mentoring teammates; and managing small-to-medium projects, as appropriate
  • Perform on-site investigations, condition assessments, and construction administration, which may include documenting distress, performance evaluation, and field testing, collecting data and samples, and troubleshooting details
  • Analyze field data and perform research and review of modern and historic construction documents, governing codes, and design guidelines to facilitate analysis, problem-solving, and repair design
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final client deliverables, including written reports, calculation packets, construction documents, repair design details (developed by hand and in CAD), and project specifications
  • Contribute to company-wide objectives through involvement in office and company development initiatives, in-house Technical Resource Groups (TRGs) and research projects, and relevant industry committees and professional organizations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, building science, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Registered Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), or other relevant industry credentials (e.g., RRC, RRO); demonstrated progress towards attaining relevant licensure/certifications will also be considered
  • Three to eight years of relevant industry experience, with a demonstrated interest in the design, construction, investigation, and/or repair of various building envelope systems; principles of heat, air, and moisture control within enclosure materials and assemblies; evaluation of building performance; and/or preservation and rehabilitation of historic structures
  • Effective technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player mindset with a willingness to proactively take on various roles and responsibilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands, while maintaining productive interpersonal relationships and a high standard of excellence, integrity, and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability. Individuals must have the dexterity to operate office and field equipment such as computers, printers, fax, copier, telephone, voice mail system, and other office and field equipment. Requirements may also include:

  • Ability to attend meetings at various office, field, and construction sites
  • Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform work in the temperature extremes presented by work in the outdoors
  • Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials, and computer screens
  • Ability to record data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, etc.
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to safely work at heights
  • Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment
  • Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
  • Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations
  • Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle

Annual starting base salary (gross): $86,600 to $117,200. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
