We are a full-service mechanical contractor providing 24/7 HVAC Service & Maintenance.

As a Building Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for servicing existing automation customers as well as execution of small controls jobs. This includes onsite hands-on work as well as programming controls sequences based on provided sequence of operations and diagnosis and repair of automation components, controllers, and associated end devices. This role will offer the opportunity to work on very small scale single unitary control systems up to full facility and central plant control systems. Success will be dictated by one’s willingness to learn and adapt to troubleshooting and installation of systems with minimal oversight and accepting challenging tasks such as controls communication troubleshooting. USA Mechanical & Energy Services is looking for someone with the flexibility and aptitude to switch between the execution of small projects and troubleshooting as needed. The primary systems one would be a subject matter expert in will include but are not limited to Niagara 4, LynxSpring Onyxx controls, Honeywell CiPer/Spyder controls, Trane Tracer, Trane ES, with a specific emphasis on Tridium Niagara experience. Ideally you will have a Niagara 4 certification coming in, but in its absence, USA Mechanical & Energy Services will send you to required training courses after a 90 day probationary period.

Ideally, we are looking for someone currently doing the job with expertise in the above-mentioned systems. If you do not have direct experience with those systems, USA Mechanical & Energy Services is willing to train someone with the aptitude and learners’ attitude that is shared here.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot controls system issues down to end devices. This includes sensors, relays, and actuators on associated controls systems.
  • Program sequence of operations in a systems respective language (typically function block).
  • Create and modify graphics, trends, and alarms within the respective controls system.
  • Install, wire and commission field devices on new controls jobs and expansions to existing controls systems.
  • Complete timesheet entries daily, submit timesheets according to company policy.
  • Maintain and expand USA Mechanical & Energy Services footprint for controls with existing customers.
  • Work with customer IT representatives to ensure robust and secure automation IP networks.
  • Maintain and install supporting programming tools on company provided laptop.
  • Work with and sometimes direct electrical subcontractors on small jobs to ensure proper installation of site control systems.
  • Work with mechanical division service and installation technicians for root cause diagnostic on service calls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Tridium Niagara AX or N4 certification highly desirable.
  • D2, S2, E2, L/C 5 equivalent or higher current CT license highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of low voltage electric control circuits and general high voltage electrical understanding.
  • Understanding of controls systems protocols, BACnet minimum.
  • Understanding of basic IP address formatting and basic IT systems understanding.
  • 3 or more years of HVAC or HVAC controls experience; or equivalent combination of education and HVAC experience required.
  • Must have a strong technical understanding of HVAC systems with the ability to read and understand controls sequence of operations when provided.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and background.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Exceptional people skills, developed through experience in client-facing roles or customer service and support.
  • Excellent and creative problem-solving skills.
  • An ability to adjust to changing workflows and demands.
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, a consultative approach, the ability to influence multiple constituents without direct authority and effectively network within an evolving organization.
  • Other job duties as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel locally.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
