Job Description:
This position is a part of BSA/AML Department, a team that is integral to TowneBank’s efforts in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. The BSA/AML Department assists the Bank’s businesses to design effective processes through the development of consistent and cohesive policies and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable anti-money laundering and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) regulations. The BSA Quality Control team works within the BSA/AML Department to act as a trusted independent body committing to quality, process improvements, and business analysis and reporting.
The BSA Quality Control Analyst I’s primary objectives are to identify and report potential issues and areas of improvement, submit recommendations, and provide feedback for the BSA/AML, Electronic Banking, and Mortgage departments. Tasks include Quality Control reviews, ongoing analysis and trending to support the BSA/AML program, and the preparation of work papers and preliminary reports.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct Quality Control reviews on BSA/AML department processes, including BSA/AML investigations, Currency Transaction Reporting, OFAC sanctions screening, and KYC processes for completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct Quality Control reviews of BSA/OFAC-related functions of other lines of business including sanctions screening of letters of credit, dealer services, wire transfers, and mortgages.
- Perform root cause analysis on Quality Control review results in order to recommend remedial training or other appropriate follow-up actions(s) to Management.
- Prepare memos communicating the results, observations, and recommendations of Quality Control reviews to relevant management responsible for processes reviewed.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- 1-3 years banking experience, knowledge of branch and/or loan operations or quality assurance reviews
- At least 1 year of BSA/AML experience, risk management, or consultant position handling BSA/AML audits
- Knowledge of bank products and services
- General knowledge of federal requirements under the Bank Secrecy Act requirements including Customer Identification Program, USA PATRIOT Act and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations and be familiar with FFIEC BSA/AML Manual guidelines
- Ability to develop strong relationships with peers, and ability to interact with multiple levels of management, internal and external auditors/examiners
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented with good organization skills
- Ability to handle confidential customer information
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field such as business management, accounting, finance, or economics
- Experience in a financial institution with asset size $10B and over
