The Cornell Jeb E. The Opportunity

Brooks School is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will focus on Events and Faculty Support to play a pivotal role in advancing our academic and research mission. Position Responsibilities:
As a critical member of the administrative staff team, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks to support the Brooks School faculty and academic staff in their teaching, research, and extension activities. Here are the key responsibilities:
  • High-Level Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive and efficient administrative support to Brooks School faculty and academic staff, ensuring they have the resources and assistance they need to excel in their roles. Support includes procurement of goods and services, and managing travel activities.
  • Event Planning: Assist in the planning and execution of School events, including high-profile speakers and guests. Your attention to detail will help create successful and memorable events.
  • Visitor & Space Management: Act as the primary point of contact for the Dean and Administration suite. Manage visitor spaces and handle conference room conflicts to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of professionals to produce and execute high-quality work for various Brooks School programs.

What We Need

  • Associate's Degree and 2 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate to broad audiences.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Manage competing deadlines, balance conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions while paying close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Requires reasoning, analytical thought, creativity, and innovation in solving minor problems that occur day to day.
  • Requires ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of faculty, staff, students, and other units on and off campus.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • This position will be fully on-site during 90-day probationary period to enable training and onboarding, with potential to move to hybrid schedule of 4 days on campus, 1 day remote during the academic year and 3 days on campus, 2 days remote during university instructional breaks and summer (roughly from June 1 - August 15). The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
