Stantec's Chicago Transportation group is looking an intern for the Summer 2024!

This is a paid internship with full or part-time hours during the Summer of 2024. This is an office position; limited teleworking (if any) is anticipated.
Your Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • May assist project teams and administrative staff by preparing or compiling studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets and graphs, drawings, calculations, research and other tasks in support of various transportation projects.
  • May assist project managers with tasks designed to understand the project management process and internal frameworks.
  • May include some fieldwork assisting with data gathering for various projects.
  • Other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned to support the team.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills, be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and capable of taking initiative and working independently when needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both office and virtual environments.
  • Microsoft Office experience required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D, Microstation or OpenRoad Designer, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Creative Suite software is a plus.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in similar type work or office environment is a plus.
  • Willingness to perform field work, as needed.

Education and Experience
  • Education: Enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's Degree with a structural emphasis required. Prefer Master' Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year bridge design experience or relevant internship experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Microsoft products such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Previous experience with Bentley MicroStation/Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
