Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to join our team at Chicago Family Health Center. The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor will be responsible for managing cases of breastfeeding mothers and promoting breastfeeding to prenatal patients of Chicago Family Health Center. As a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, you will have the opportunity to empower mothers in their breastfeeding journey, providing them with the necessary resources and support.

The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor will be responsible for managing cases of breastfeeding mothers and promoting breastfeeding to prenatal patients of Chicago Family Health Center. As a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, you will have the opportunity to empower mothers in their breastfeeding journey, providing them with the necessary resources and support.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with prenatal and delivered patients to provide written and verbal information about breastfeeding, including hospital rounds and home visits.
- Provide written and verbal information about breastfeeding to prenatal patients.
- Contact all prenatal patients referred by their provider or case manager and interested in breastfeeding.
- Assist delivered patients with breastfeeding needs during daily hospital rounds.
- Provide home visits to patients as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must have or obtain WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Training and Certification Program within six (6) months of hire date.
- Previous experience with breastfeeding counseling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of patients.
- Knowledge of breastfeeding practices and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to travel to patients' homes and hospital.
