- Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the brands to include raising the perceived value of each brand they represent
- Responsible for ensuring the brand meets the sales, pricing and margin goals of the company
- Responsible for competitive pricing analysis by going into the market to gather information about competitors pricing of similar type brands and products as well as utilizing published third party research studies on price and making a presentation to upper management based on the findings
- Responsible for taking a broad view of the competitive landscape to determine where the company's brands are positioned against competitors with respect to design, price and value
- Responsible for completing margin analysis report for the VP of Merchandising and ensure all programs meet budgeted margin goals
- Responsible for working with the operations team to reduce the Cost of Goods Sold which includes development expenses
- Responsible for establishing target pricing for product management team
- Content Creation - creating innovative content to ensure optimal shopping experience online i.e. A+ detail pages
- Responsible for reducing customer returns - analyzing reasons, working with organization to take corrective action
- Responsible for developing and managing each season's Merchandising Line Plan in teams
- Liaison with Brand on all approvals - product, photography, packaging, qualities, marketing
- Packaging development for all tiers of business - work with packaging department on innovative packaging concepts to ensure success at retail
- Responsible for a bi-annual business plan to Senior Management to include a quantitative analysis of each brand (overall sales, sales by customer, beds designed versus beds placed, etc.), the competitive landscape, industry considerations, distribution review and pricing in order to formulate a 24-36 month plan
- Responsible for working with various departments to ensure on time development of each brand to meet merchandising outline goals
- Responsible for creating and maintaining development, sold products, transitions for both inline and international lifecycles in PLM including workflow creation, RFQ updates, certifications
- Working with sales to ensure they understand product placements, product minimums, how they impact placement of a program and helping to strategize backdoor strategies if necessary to account for units beyond the need
- Responsible for brand reporting as specified by each brand's stipulation (i.e. sales, forecasts)
- Responsible for managing packaging photography shoot, direction from the brand, providing direction to the studio and on the spot product approvals
- Responsible for coordinating product/timing with each brand for their marketing Asset photo shoot by season
- Responsible for working with the assigned brand on all packaging approvals (1st and 3rd tier)
- Responsible for publishing a seasonal price list (market week) and updating Brand Current assortment (quarterly)
Essential Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising/Marketing or related discipline is required
- Minimum of five years of previous experience in a brand management, marketing or retail position
- Minimum of four years of buying line exposure and understanding of retail cycles
- Knowledge of competitive market is vital in order to determine future trends and needs in addition to identifying core product opportunities
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs to include Excel
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in PLM
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in order to effectively communicate and report information to all levels of the Company
- Possess strong organizational and analytical skills
- Possess strong negotiation skills
- Ability to prioritize work, be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to multi-task on a routine basis, be detail-oriented, adapt plans and change direction as needed, have a proactive mindset and have the ability to perform the job under a moderate to high level of stress
Salary Range - $90k to $110k
