Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Boiler Operatorto join our Ashland LLC business at our Freetown, Massachusetts location This position will report to Facilities, Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

• Work Schedule: Rotating shift (6:00 am to 6:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 6:00 am), 28-day rolling calendar, including 7 days off in a row

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Monitors and operates two water tube, natural gas fired boilers: 725 HP and 1,100 HP.
• Test water, chemical mixing and perform flue gas analysis
• Maintains the plant air systems
• Operates the facility deionized and filtered water systems.
• Flexibility and willingness to cover nights and/or weekends, as needed, for vacation time, sick time, etc.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Massachusetts Licensed Second Class Firemen or higher
• Continuous training as prescribed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety for licensing requirements.
• Working knowledge of natural gas fired boilers, pumps, rotating equipment, and compressors.
• Knowledge (and ability to interpret): National Board Boiler rules, ASME and ANSI codes, and Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts rules on boilers

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

• Two or more years' experience operating and/or repairing boiler equipment, air compressors and various water systems.
• Welding and machine shop skills a plus
