Position Summary

The Medical Affairs Clinical Evidence Biostatistician will be responsible for supporting end-to-end CVS Medical Affairs Clinical Evidence Development workstreams. This position will work directly with the Executive Director of Clinical Evidence Development (CED) to design, support, and manage cross-enterprise evidence generation from ideation through drafting and submission of clinical evidence deliverables (e.g., manuscripts, conference abstracts, and white papers).

The candidate will be responsible for research and evaluation activities for programs and provide statistical-related consulting, collaboration, and reporting across multiple concurrent workstreams with numerous stakeholders. Primary duties including protocol development, curation and management of large administrative datasets, implementation of analysis plans, generation of complex statistical output and interpretation of results, and reporting and communication (both written and oral) of findings for a variety of internal and external audiences. Candidate will function independently and under the direction of Principal Investigators, which may also include the identification, development, and implementation of new computational techniques.

Industry, market, and portfolio knowledge will support strategic priorities, execution of research, and monitoring/reporting of key performance indicators for team success. This position will require collaborative practices to maintain and provide quality control for existing daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual project and governance tracking resources (e.g., dashboards and interactive reports).

This position will work closely with CVS cross-enterprise partners from Analytics & Behavior Change, Product Teams (e.g., Digital, Virtual Care, etc), Health Equity Office, Medical Management, and other stakeholders to provide statistical support and execute clinical evidence deliverables as part of an enterprise-wide evidence development strategy to impact clinical / scientific communications internally and externally.


Required Qualifications

  • Relevant healthcare and/or clinical analytics experience
  • Experience with database architecture (relational, hierarchical, types of data) and the ability to extract and manipulate assets to prepare them for solid statistical (descriptive or inferential) analysis
  • Demonstrated experience to maintain and curate datasets
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting analytics for large research portfolios with concurrent studies
  • Experience designing research protocols and statistical methods and Good Clinical Practices in research
  • Experience in clinical research execution to interpret study results and collaborate with stakeholders in the development of clinical evidence development content
  • Demonstrated ability to provide analytical review of clinical content management to ensure data integrity and validity
  • Deep analytical/statistical knowledge and the ability to construct models for risk standardization, adjustments, and comparisons
  • Demonstrated success publishing in scientific/clinical conference proceedings and major scientific journals
  • Collaborate with clinical and scientific researchers in study design, development of research instruments, collection, management and analysis of data, interpretation of results, preparation of reports, and publications
  • Programming experience related to data analysis (e.g., STATA, SAS, SQL, Python, R)
  • Bachelor’s degree in (bio)statistics in related field


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in quantitative fields such as bioinformatics, biostatistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or related field
  • Experience with real-world data sources, study design, and evidence generation
  • Maintains a comprehensive surveillance of the statistical literature with particular attention to promising new approaches to analysis that may be of direct benefit in immediate application to CVS Health studies
  • Maintains a program of independent methodologic research in clinical trial/biostatistical methodology and applications
  • Excellent oral / written communication skills following the prioritization, identification, critical appraisal, and development of clinical evidence
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Outstanding time management skills; demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with the ability to drive achievement of objectives
  • Certified Society of Clinical Research Associate or Association of Clinical Research Professionals certification
  • Good Clinical Practice certification
  • Responsible Conduct of Research certification
  • Human Subjects Research certification
  • Research Study Design certification
  • Experience with Knowledge Management (e.g., EndNote, Electronic Databases) systems


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in (bio)statistics in related field, required
  • Master’s degree or higher in quantitative fields such as bioinformatics, biostatistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or related field, preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$60,300.00 - $132,600.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
