Job Description:
GDIT's Military Health team is seeking a Biosafety and Logistics Specialist in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) Infectious Disease Field Surveillance and Laboratory Research Services. As the Navy hub for the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, the NHRC Operational Infectious Diseases Directorate conducts on-going, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $21.16 - $31.74. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Job Description:

- HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Assist with data entry to track the delivery of new contractor owned/acquired equipment, as well as notate corrective and preventative maintenance actions, subject to final GS or military approval.
- Assist with setting up, operating, modifying, and maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus, subject to final authorization by the biomedical department and GS or military approval. This function does not include equipment and apparatus currently covered on a maintenance agreement or warranty for which any manipulation will void the warranty.
- Assist in supporting the logistics of receiving specimens for research including archiving and entering the samples into the lab database, subject to final GS or military approval. Receipt of specimens shall be completed by GS or military personnel.
- Assist with maintaining the integrity and security of all documents in the appropriate database, subject to final GS or military approval.
- Make entries to various paper and computer files to assist with controlling receipt, follow-up actions, backorders, stock record changes, requisition files, and related supply records, subject to final GS or military review.
- WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education: BA/BS, preferred in a biological science discipline.
- Required Experience: 2+ years experience with general laboratory operations and support
- Preferred Skills: Well versed in the use of PC-based office automation and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Proficiency and clarity in both written and oral communications are essential.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a proven track record of working independently and as a team player.

- US Citizenship Required Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a favorable NACLC T3 security investigation
