We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Level Biologist with a diversified background in both in vivo and in vitro biology to join our discovery research team within the Biotherapeutic Enabling Biology in Biotechnology Discovery Research.  We need a candidate who combines a passion to explore novel biology with a rationale based and hypothesis driven scientific approach.  The successful candidate will join a highly interactive, collaborative, and innovative scientific team to discover and advance large molecule drugs to combat diseases in the diabetes, pain, neurodegenerative and auto-immune areas.  The candidate will design and execute in vivo animal studies, in vitro cell based and biochemical assays, as well as participate in vivo imaging studies.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design and independently execute in vivo animal studies including dosing, monitoring, necropsy, blood and tissue collection. Some animal studies may need to use surgical procedures

  • Carry out cell based and biochemical assays including cell culture, RNA and protein isolation, ELISA, PCR, Western Blots.

  • Participate in studies using microscopes to capture images from live animals or ex vivo tissues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in molecular/cell biology, immunology, neuroscience, or related discipline.

  • 1-3 years of experience in research on rodents and cell/molecular biology.

Additional Skills / Preferences

  • Understanding and experience of in vivo studies using rodents including tissue dissection and processing.

  • Knowledge and experience of using confocal microscope and imaging analysis.

  • Strong cell biology background and experiences including, but not limited to, mammalian cell culture, quantitative cell-based assays, primary cell isolation, and transient and stable cell line generation. Experience with a wide range of laboratory techniques: ELISAs, Western blots, RNA isolation, and qPCR.

  • Capable of independently planning and conducting experiments, generating data, interpreting results, and documenting the work.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Desire and ability to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.

  • Ability to work productively and to foster collaborations in an interdisciplinary team environment.

  • Experience with standard data analysis software (Microsoft Excel, Graphpad Prism).

  • Experience with rodent disease models and small animal surgery techniques.

  • Knowledge and experience in large molecule platforms for early phase drug discovery.

  • Experiences on animal and human-derived 3D organoid culture.
