RTI International’s Center for Informatics has an opening for Bioinformatics Lead to develop and support technical projects that involve interdisciplinary approaches and range widely in bioinformatics applications, size and scope. This role will lead and contribute to projects with federal/state agencies, research universities and the wider bioinformatics community that seek to sue and advance interoperable healthcare data for research and clinical care. Candidate would support proposal development and project delivery through designing, developing, modifying, adapting and implementing short- and long-term solutions to interdisciplinary teams. These projects and proposals will focus on developing systems using informatics approaches to support our ability to organize, find, and analyze biological data. Additionally, the role addresses information technology (IT) needs through creation and enhancement of applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure in collaboration with central IT groups within RTI.
Responsibilities

- Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs and implements software
- Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities and/ or mentors staff on related tasks.
- Determines systems software design

- Seeks out new business development opportunities.
- Oversee and mentor informatics staff on projects and technical implementations.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, etc and 12 years of relevant experience or combination of education of experience. This includes a Master’s degree and 10 years or a PhD and 6 years of experience.

- Expertise in developing complex technical solutions focused on data-driven decision making and metadata management
