Billing Consultant

This position provides strategic oversight and leadership over the Billing Department operations, ensuring all department functions are performed in a timely and effective manner, meeting organizational objectives.

Job Functions and Duties:

• Provide comprehensive oversight and analysis in all aspects of the billing process including, but not limited to: medical billing medical coding, electronic claims submission, insurance follow-up, AR management, medical practice reports
• Provide detailed analysis of billing procedure and systems
• Create policies and procedures for entire billing process
• Ensure medical coding and billing practices are in line with industry and regulations
• Research and determine the viability of collections on all accounts receivables
• Audit EMR system and correct ICD-9 coding errors.
• Review electronic claims submission for reduction in errors for maximum reimbursement
• Maintain and track credentialing status for all insurance carriers, facility and individual providers
• Train billing and appropriate staff about insurance, Medicare, Medicaid documentation and compliance.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with CEO & Finance to provide account analysis reporting
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

1. 10 years’ work experience in a medical billing environment, preferably within a behavioral health setting.

2. Mastery of electronic and manual health care billing and collection systems.

3. Significant management experience, motivating, supervising and directing employees.

4. Proficient computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook.

5. Familiarity with medical billing systems preferred.

6. Strong organizational skills, problem solving and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

7. Medical billing coding degree or significant work experience.

8. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
