THE
ROLE


The
YES Prep Leadership Pathway was created to ensure we are providing leaders with a compelling vision for their continued growth at YES Prep, and to guarantee that we have a strong internal pipeline for talent as we expand and respond to staffing challenges that impact the YES Prep experience for students, families, and staff.

The YES Prep Leadership Pathway exists to pave a compelling path of growth for campus-based leaders, to ensure that we are building an internal bench of high-performing talent. Leaders on the Pathway have access to aligned training, development, coaching, and evaluation, and can use these tools to chart a path of career growth within our organization and beyond.

This residency is a developmental role between manager and director levels. Residents are hired centrally and will have access to the same onboarding and year-long development as Directors who are in their first year of the role. Residents will be placed under the guidance of a Home Office manager while being campus-based under the mentorship of a campus-based Lead Director to shadow and for 1:1 coaching aligned to the YES Prep Leadership Competencies.


Ideal Residents will have:

  • Experience as a Dean, Manager, or teacher-leader (Grade Level Chair or equivalent role)
  • Invested in professional development and eager for feedback
  • Oriented toward agility and flexible regarding work location (ready and willing to be placed at any campus, ready to be considered for mid-year vacancies, understands that on-site manager may change in the middle of the school year)

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the progress toward increased student achievement for a cohort of teachers, including helping teachers use assessment data to improve the quality and scope of their instruction;
  • Supporting and coaching the campus Interventionists and other leaders responsible for providing one-on-one, small group, and whole class instruction to students identified as needing more intensive and tiered instructional support to achieve academic success, including monitoring and responding to compliance data points;
  • Ensuring that students receive outstanding instruction in all classrooms by observing and evaluating a cohort of teachers, including conducting classroom observations, coaching teachers, and monitoring teacher progress;
  • Plan and implement the steps necessary, including RTI and MTSS, to establish, launch, and maintain a strong academic mindset and achieve jaw-dropping results for all students on campus both academically and behaviorally;
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of professional learning opportunities to campus teachers and staff during beginning-of-year in-service days, as well as select professional development days throughout the school year;
  • Leading campus testing responsibilities to ensure they are executed with accuracy and fidelity;
  • Providing leadership, coaching, professional learning, and serving as a resource to teachers, interventionists, and Teacher Assistants on positive school culture, student discipline, team management, social/emotional health, compliance, parent/community relations, and student achievement;
  • Developing, implementing, managing and executing effective school behavior systems ensuring incorporation of parent communication in each process;
  • Establishing, building and maintaining a positive school culture among students, staff and parents that promotes the YES Prep mission, core purpose, core values, and family engagement duties and events;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least two years of exemplary instructional leadership and/or Grade-Level Chair experience
  • At least three years of exemplary teaching
  • Experience in administration and/or supervision
  • Certification in teaching/instruction
  • Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution

  • CompensationThis position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
