Reference and Background Specialist (Bilingual Spanish/English Required)

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Manager of RBI Services, the Reference and Background Specialist ensures the accurate and timely processing and completion of all customer requests for Reference and Background information on specified candidates, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Process requests according to report due dates, create orders in TazWorks, order criminal/credit/social security/DMV reports as required, gather required information to complete orders in a timely manner. Notify Department Manager of issues or report problems immediately and take action to correct discrepancies.
  2. Provide reference checking services, education verifications, employment verifications and establish or maintain relationships and respond to all inquiries. Gather information or utilize available resources to provide usage information to meet department criteria and deadlines.
  3. Communicate with customer to address and resolve inquiries, issues, problems, etc., ensuring the maintenance of positive customer relationships. Update customers on order delays and document cause
  4. Complete and clean up criminal records in a timely manner, follow up on problem items in all areas with court clerks and other law enforcement agencies. Maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, logs, electronic files, and follow established departmental procedures and standards in accordance with applicable laws. Have an understanding of terminology used in criminal courts and records to determine if crimes fall within the reportable period.
  5. Complete special projects as assigned by the Manager of RBI Services. Respond to questions from other RBI staff and internal employees.
  6. Understand TazWorks system and be familiar with all basic functions and features available to users

Minimum Qualifications/Additional Performance Criteria:

Education:

  • Requires at least one year of related work experience; or a combination of related education and experience.

  • Requires applicants to be Bilingual in English and Spanish, fluent in both verbal and written form.
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines such as a computer and job-related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc. Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Requires strong written skills and typing abilities.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Exemplary customer service skills required.
