Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide workforce development services to Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake (GIC) participants with a specific focus on individuals who identify as Latino, and/or complete a GIC certification-based training program. Workforce Development services include: assessment, job readiness coaching, job placement assistance, retention and case management services as well as business engagement toward local employers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engages clients through Intake, Job Readiness, Job Placement and Job Retention processes
- Assists job seeking participants with resume development, translation, interview preparation, application submission, interview follow up, referrals to training opportunities and case management
- Maintains positive employer relationships which generate access to employment opportunities for program completers
- Consistently communicates with assigned employers to ascertain hiring needs, requirements, and preferences to provide qualified candidates to meet their needs
- Facilitates hiring events, information sessions and pre-screen events to introduce employer partners to potential candidates
- Conducts/arranges comprehensive assessment of job requirements and customer’s ability to assure an appropriate job match
- Responsible for tracking and meeting placement and retention goals
- Provides post-placement support for both employers and program graduates to assist with issues as they arise, promoting long-term job retention
- Offers conflict resolution and intervention for employers and participants to address concerns surrounding employment
- Provides follow-up to employer in the form of phone calls and/or visits to job sites as needed
- Addresses clients’ needs and barriers through internal and external referrals for additional services
- Maintains an up-to-date documentation within Goodwill’s software systems of every aspect of customer’s attendance, communication, job placement and retention
- Prepares monthly and annual reports noting progress toward individual, team and organizational goals
- Participates as a member of the placement team responsible for ensuring that outcome-based performance standards are met
- Participates actively in team meetings as well as provides support when necessary to team members
- Serves as GIC’s mission representative
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, human resources, sales, or related field required
- Three (3) years of experience in job development, job coaching, job placement or recruitment experience required
- Strong customer service background in staffing services preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must possess a current valid and unrestricted driver’s license and be fully insured according to Maryland law

- Highly developed written, speaking, listening and professional communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information to people at various levels of comprehension in both English and Spanish

- Knowledge and understanding of current labor market trends, employment trends, and workplace cultures
- Coaching and counseling skills with knowledge of standard teaching practices, methods and techniques

- Knowledge and understanding of case management skills, techniques, processes and standards

- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Intermediate knowledge of the Internet, including how to use web browsers to search for information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary
Lifting to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are occasionally required. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons
Light
Lifting to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel is defined as travel to all areas within Goodwill’s territory (Cecil, Harford, Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties, Baltimore City and the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland). In some cases, long-distance travel, including overnights may be required but is typically planned in advance. In some cases, travel may be unplanned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Limited
General office environment where the employee is infrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles or outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually quiet.
