Job description: The Case Manager will primarily provide daily support to the Case Manager Coordinator and Refugee Services Department staff to facilitate the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Refugee Services (RSS) program.
Bilingual Education Institute (BEI) has been serving refugee and immigrant students for over 40 years and BEI provides quality teaching to our students, motivating them to achieve in academics, business, and in global and local communities.
Bilingual Education Institute has openings for full-time Case Workersto work with refugees, asylees, and victims of human trafficking.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Creates and maintains all English courses in various databases; tracks and manages students' attendance including follow-ups on attendance; corresponds with students via email and phone; tracks the academic and attendance results of students.
- Ensures accuracy of all student documentation: new class enrollments, transfers, attendance, follow-up, attendance barriers, classroom progress, document collection and completion, post-tests, etc.
- Monitors, documents, and removes barriers related to student absences/attendance to assist all clients in successfully reaching targets for completion.
- Prepares, tracks, and files samples of academic work and class assessments (mid-term and final exams) for each course.
- Monitors student progress toward meeting course objectives; advises students about methods of assessment and the evaluation results of each class; confers with program leadership about any concerns regarding student progress.
- Responsible for issuing, tracking and documenting support services to eligible clients, including childcare, and interpretation.
- Plans, administers and documents student post-tests; confers and shares the results with Instructors and Academic Leads.
- Administers, collects and analyzes student evaluations at the mid-point of each course; collects testimonials and student success stories.
- Provides intake assessment for clients interested in English courses when necessary. Provides translation services for clients as needed during follow-ups.
- Schedules classroom or home visits as needed to complete course evaluations and post-tests, or to address concerns of instructors or students.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
- An Associate’s Degree (or 2 years of university) or foreign equivalent;
- Bilingual (Spanish, Kinyarwanda, French Creole or Arabic)
- Excellent English reading and writing skills;
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse staff and student population.
Work Schedule: 9:00 am-6:00 pm, Monday-Friday
or 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
