TITLE:Best Buy TeenTech Center Career Pathways Facilitator
DEPARTMENT: Jerry Gamble Club
REPORTS TO: Branch Director, Jerry Gamble Club
SALARY RANGE: $46,000 - $50,000 (Full-time, hourly with benefits)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The BGCTC seeks an energetic, talented, and passionate candidate to serve as the Career Pathways Facilitator. The BBTTC Career Pathways Facilitator is a full-time position funded by the Best Buy Foundation solely for the express purpose of managing the Best BuyTeen Tech Center Career Pathways program. This position works collaboratively with the Best Buy Teen Tech Center Coordinator, Jerry Gamble Club staff, and members of the BGCTC Administrative team.
Career Pathways Facilitator Essential Functions:
  • Recruit local youth ages 16*-19 to the Teen Tech Center as members and participants in the Career Pathways program. *Youth age 15 are permitted but must turn 16 no later than July 1 or the start of the summer internship placement (whichever comes first).
  • Create and facilitate life skills workshops to equip youth Pathways Program teens with relevant transferable social, professional, and college preparatory skills.
  • Partner with assigned Tech Skills Partner liaison to outline the programming calendar schedule for the year, ensuring that programming dates and times align with local school schedules and youth availability.
  • Partner with assigned Tech Skills Partner liaison to incorporate industry-specific soft skills training workshops into programming curriculum.
  • Host regular 1:1 check-in and coaching sessions with Career Pathways program participants, including supporting program participants with job/internship applications, scholarship applications, career exploration, etc.
  • Secure paid summer youth internship placements for program participants.
  • Oversee implementation of youth participation stipends, working with finance/admin/leadership as necessary for stipend distribution.
  • Complete administrative data management including maintaining accurate and up-to-date Career Pathways attendance/participation records, submitting reporting as requested by Best Buy and/or The Clubhouse Network, collecting youth and parental consent forms and other paperwork as applicable.
  • Match local professionals with Career Pathways program participants as volunteer mentors.
  • Actively participate in recurring check-in meetings with Best Buy Social Impact staff and/or Tech Skills Partner liaison, including, but not limited to:
  • Weekly beginning-of-year planning and preparation meetings with both Tech Skills Partner and BBY Staff
  • Bi-weekly check-in calls with Tech Skills Partner
  • Bi-weekly Career Pathways Community of Practice meetings
  • Quarterly All-site round up calls with NPs and TTCs
  • Best Buy regional cluster calls (encouraged)
  • The Clubhouse Network regional cluster calls (encouraged)
  • Prioritize in-person program delivery, unless otherwise deemed necessary due to COVID-19 exposure and other medical needs, inclement weather conditions, or facility closures.
  • Actively participate in recurring host organization team meetings, 1:1 meetings with supervisor, Teen Tech Center staff meetings and attend annual training events/conferences hosted by Best Buy and or The Clubhouse Networks.
  • Support other programs and activities of the BGCTC organization with Teen Tech Center expertise and resources, as time permits.
  • Serve on the BGCTC Teen Specialists work-group committee.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership at BGCTC to leverage Best Buy National Partner relationships to expose members to skill development and media training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)
  • Must have a high school diploma; post-secondary training/education preferred.
  • Proven track record working with youth in an informal learning environment.
  • Strong knowledge base of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
  • Knowledge of the development and administration of youth programs, staff supervision, event coordination, and community partnership.
  • Strong partnership development and relationship management skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be able to use Microsoft Office and have excellent skills in applicable software.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a company-owned vehicle.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Aptitude to multi-task with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
