POSITION SUMMARY:
- Assists the Benefits Administrator in administering various employee benefit programs. Handles the workers' compensation program, leave of absence programs, tuition reimbursement and child care assistance.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
- Assists the VP of Human Resources and HR Benefits Administrator with routine and special projects.
- Assist the Benefits Administrator with open enrollment for health insurance, life insurance and flexible benefits.
- Processes all new hire benefits information, transfers and status changes.
- Coordinates Tuition Reimbursement Program. Ensures that applications are submitted timely and qualify for reimbursement.
- Coordinates Child Care Assistance Program.
- Coordinates Workers' Compensation Program, which includes filing quarterly and annual reports with the Office of Workers' Compensation. Follows-up on incident reports, appointments, releases to full or modified duty. Forwards lost time claims to TPA for processing.
- Coordinates FMLA program which includes but is not limited to, sending notifications to managers/directors when an employee has filed for FMLA, provides education to employees regarding the processes and requirements of FMLA, ensures that we meet regulations and monitors return to work releases and accommodations if any are required.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate; Associate of Science in Business Office is preferred.
- 3 years minimum experience working with various insurance plans, Retirement benefits and workers' compensation; Healthcare experience preferred.
- Advanced computer skills. Adequate keyboard skills (40 words per minute).
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with employees, vendors, and other medical personnel. Knowledge of Louisiana Workers' Compensation Laws.
- Basic mathematical skills; Must have the knowledge and ability to create reports, spreadsheets, conduct salary surveys and have some basic knowledge of Wage & Hour Laws.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
- Bending, stooping and lifting is minimal.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with employees, vendors, and other medical personnel.
