Our client in Blaine, MN or Boise, ID is actively looking for a Benefits Specialist to join their team.
Title: Benefits Specialist
Location: Blaine, MN or Boise, ID
Salary: $28-$30/hour (up to $60,000/year) + 5% annual bonus
Summary
The position will be responsible for day-to-day administration of our company's benefits and wellness programs. The company is active in M&A, so this position will need to assist in combining or defining the best programs for the company. The Benefits Specialist will be an integral part of a team responsible for reviewing and managing existing programs, developing cost effective, competitive programs ensuring compliance with current local, state and federal legislation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience with benefits administration to include reference-based pricing, self-funded medical insurance plans, open enrollment administration, and claims management.
Duties:
- Manage benefit enrollment activity to include new hire, qualifying event changes and termination of medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D, short- and long-term disability, supplemental insurance products, HSA, FSA and Cafeteria Plans for all North American locations.
- Coordinate and execute monthly New Hire Orientation both in person and virtually to include coordination with brokers, vendors and TPA.
- Support payroll to ensure benefits changes are identified and completed within the HCM.
- Audit monthly invoices against payroll deductions and online enrollment statuses to check for discrepancies.
- Assist the Benefits Manager with monthly and annual compliance reporting to include ACA, OSHA and BLS requirements as needed.
- Collaborate with Benefits Manager for annual open enrollment process including coordination of timeline with vendors, brokers and TPA's; delivering Open Enrollment information meetings; manage communications, assist with enrollment questions, close process and audit for completion.
- Collaborates with communications team to ensure effective new hire and open enrollment benefits program materials.
- Promote and build positive broker, vendor and TPA relations and make contact to investigate discrepancies and provide employees information in non-routine situations.
- Assist in referenced based pricing claims administration.
- Manage Leave of Absence program for all North American associates in compliance with local, state and federal leave legislation.
- Collaborate with Benefits Manager to develop, implement and manage Corporate Wellness Program that improves employee health.
- Working closely with HRIS team to make sure benefits and leave are working as designed in HCM system when system upgrades or testing should occur.
- Assists with M&A activity from due diligence to integration
- Assist in completing monthly benefits reporting dashboard.
- Assist as needed with workman's compensation insurance claims processing, resolve issues and answer questions from providers.
- Maintains separate and compliant employee benefit files and issues HIPAA regulations and administration.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Education and Qualifications:
- Ability to Exemplify our company values
- 3 - 5 years of related employee benefits experience
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to leaves and benefits (Health and welfare, and retirement) required.
- A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction while maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
- A strong attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple projects and processes.
- Adaptable and flexible to changing work environments and complex employee needs.
- Exceptional critical thinking and researching skills.
- Ability to create strong effective relationships with all members across the organization
- Excellent communication skills verbal, written and virtual
- Ability to communicate plan designs to the users of the benefit plans.
- Advanced Microsoft office skills including Excel, word, PowerPoint
- Ceridian Dayforce a PLUS
