Role Summary
The Benefits Manager plays a critical role in overseeing a team of benefit professionals, ensuring the effective management and deliver of employee benefit programs, monitoring the various plans and policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company objectives. They will also stay informed of industry changes and new developments to help the business keep up with best practice standards. This position requires a strong background in benefits management, account management, and exceptional leadership skills.
Your Responsibilities
Benefits Technology
- Manage and optimize benefits administration technology platforms.
- Ensure the integration of benefits systems with payroll and HRIS for seamless data flow.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and user experience.
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local regulations to ensure benefits program compliance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to address compliance requirements.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify compliance issues.
- Oversee the reconciliation of benefits data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to reconcile benefits-related financial transactions.
- Implement processes to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
- Lead the annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting process.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of required forms (1094-C, 1095-C).
- Stay informed about changes in ACA regulations and adjust reporting procedures accordingly.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors to manage relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly and address issues as needed.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and recommend changes to vendors or processes for optimization.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits.
- Ensure clarity in benefits-related communication materials.
- Provide guidance on effective communication channels to enhance employee understanding.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and provide backup support for other Benefits Manager in client facing benefits efforts.
- Follow client and internal issues escalation protocols and expectations.
This Role is a Good Fit if You
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience in benefits management with a focus on technology and compliance
- In-depth knowledge of benefits regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other relevant laws
- Minimum of 3+ years of PEO and account management experience
- Proficiency in benefits administration technology and HRIS platforms, UKG Ready preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
