Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive care to patients in assigned areas and participates in related activities.
- Plans patients' care and activities, implements and documents care given.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely, oral and written. Maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers.
- Must have regular attendance. Understand and follow established policies and procedures, written and oral instructions.
- Recognize critical and obvious changes in patient condition and react promptly.
- Maintain composure in stressful situations. Organize and complete assigned work.
- Complete orientation program and on-going education in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- During orientation, perform duties as defined by Service Directors, supervisors, educational staff and preceptor.
- Perform other duties as determined by service director. Serves as resource to newly hired staff, supplemental staff and pulled staff.
- May be required to rotate shifts. Perform Behavioral Health unit-specific Crisis Prevention Intervention skills (verbal, de-escalation, holds, restraint, seclusion, post intervention).
- Accepts patient care assignments under the direction of the Registered Nurse Directly accountable to the Nursing Managers/Directors. Incidental supervision by House Supervisor.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certificates
Must have American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification prior to hire. Must have
current certification in Crisis Prevention (CPI) or complete within 30 days of hire. Must obtain competency in restraint,
seclusion and take downs upon hire and ongoing training.
