Marion County Adult Behavioral Health is seeking nurses to provide direct nursing care to adults diagnosed with serious mental illnesses, some of whom have co-occurring substance use disorders. Duties include completing nursing assessments, taking vitals, administering injections, providing support to our team of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, and coordinating care and medications for individuals in service. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail-oriented, reliable, and enjoy working with a team. Workdays will vary depending on program needs but will fall Monday- Friday 8-5.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Provides nursing services in Behavioral Health programs; including assessment and care of clients as a part of the treatment plan; evaluates medication effectiveness and other health care needs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Health Clinical Supervisor or Medical Director; may work under the lead direction of a Behavioral Health Nurse 2 who assigns duties, establishes goals and reviews results.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.
Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
  • Administers psychiatric medications, maintains records on consumers, participates in evaluations, reports findings.
  • Assesses clients before seen by a prescriber.
  • Assists in training nursing staff and case managers.
  • Educate consumers, Adult Foster Home, RTF staff and Marion County staff on health matters.
  • Operate motor vehicle to attend meetings, perform duties, and assist within the community.
  • Ongoing review of client records. Identify medical needs. Assist in referrals to community.
  • Complete clinical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Meets performance expectations for time and billing standards.
  • Other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements for the Position
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  1. Associate degree in nursing and two years of Behavioral Health or other related experience; OR
  2. Bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of Behavioral Health, or other related experience; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • Must possess a current Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) Qualified Mental Health Associate certification (QMHA) or register within ninety (90) days of hire, and complete in accordance with MHACBO guidelines. See MHACBO website for requirements.
  • This position may be subject to the following: Must not be excluded from participation in the federal health care programs (Medicaid, Medicare and other federally funded programs that provide health benefits); AND must not be excluded from participating in federal procurement (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and non-procurement activities (Executive Order No. 12549).
  • Must have a current CPR and AED certificates.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.   • Typical work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, hours will vary, with flexibility based upon the needs of the department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the practice of Behavioral Health nursing; community Behavioral Health services; ability to function independently with limited supervision and to cooperate with others working in the assigned service area.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; recognize the Behavioral Health and health care needs and concerns of consumers; maintain constructive relationships with consumers; accept and utilize administrative direction, supervision and consultation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; reaches overhead; lifts and carries items weighing up to 15 lbs.; rapid-mental/hand/eye coordinator; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font; distinguishes colors; hears a normal level of speech; may work in areas exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, second-hand smoke (outreach), noise or household cleaning chemicals; may work in uneven or wet areas.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
