Fremont School District 79 is seeking a Behavioral Coach for the 2024-2025 school year.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Learning
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBS1 Endorsement
  • Must possess experience in the field of behavioral management, including classroom management experience
  • At least five years of classroom teaching experience preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Specialist Coach will serve the district (Grades PK-8) primarily by supporting 1) district priorities established in the strategic plan; 2) teacher-initiated coaching partnerships; 3) new staff to the district; and 4) technology resource integration.

 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • Prioritize support of professional development needs related to the District strategic plan and other areas identified by the District.
  • Assists in general preventative programs related to behavior, restorative practice, and SEL.
  • Integrate coaching cycles with teachers to promote inquiry, skill development, and professional growth.
  • Assists in keeping the staff and administration aware of all behavioral incidents.
  • Assists teams with developing functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and behavioral data tracking systems. The behavioral specialist will participate in IEP Meetings as determined by the Student Services Department .
  • Attends various meetings, such as staff meetings, building MTSS team meetings, and case management.
  • Develops data collection and data management systems, entering data into proprietary and other computer databases, analyzing data, identifying student needs, and recommending strategies and/or interventions based upon individual student needs.
  • Support new staff to the district in their first two years, including the facilitation of the mentee program, the integration of coaching cycles, and the individualization of support unique to each role.
  • Promote inclusion for all students, providing support to teachers in their implementation of effective Tier I instructional interventions that best support student needs in the classroom setting.
  • Develops or utilizes assessment tools and progress reports.
  • Develops positive and trusting relationships with staff and students. 
  • Develops, adapts, and implements curriculum and lesson plans and aligns curriculum with academic and SEL standards.
  • Ensures that teams are utilizing concepts of least restrictive environment and best practices with students.
  • Integrate and execute a plan to measure the evidence of the impact of the coaching role and student learning.
  • Implements Student Code of Conduct, which includes monitoring student compliance with the established Code, which includes maintaining records of behavior actions administered, including electronic records, initiating appropriate communications with students, parents/guardians, and other staff, preparing and submitting reports regarding behavior actions imposed.
  • Assists staff in addressing student attendance problems.
  • Maintains accurate records of student behavior files, parent contacts concerning student behavior, and other programs.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of files, records, and other items relating to students and staff.
  • Provide in-service training to staff on behavior management techniques, trauma-informed care, culturally and linguistically responsive discipline, and restorative justice techniques. Be a CPI-certified instructor.
  • Participate in any crisis intervention. 
  • Participates in the development of school procedures designed to affect positive school behavior.
  • Participates in workshops and/or training that address improving school climate, positive behavior strategies, diversity, safe school, restorative practices, MTSS, SEL, student development, etc. 
  • Coach individual teachers or teams of teachers on behavior intervention plan implementation and data collection.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to support educator/adult learning.
  • Pursue and promote equitable and inclusive learning opportunities, focusing on closing achievement gaps and meeting the needs of all students.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to continue growing as an instructional leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive director of student services.
