Derby Public School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and effective BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) to join our team for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. This individual will serve as a full-time lead behavioral specialist for several locations within district (all located on one campus). In addition, this individual will support colleagues in the area of behavior support and modification.
Essential Functions:
-Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments, as well as informal evaluation measures for the purpose of informing and designing specialized instruction, as well as to help determine eligibility for the receipt of special education and related services.
-Design individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to meet the individual needs of students through the incorporation of data-driven, scientifically research-based methodologies.
-Participate in PPT meetings to guide and support the development of Individualized Education Programs for students with disabilities.
-Effectively communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues, and all other stakeholders regarding behavior and behavior modification.
-Implement or support colleagues in the initiation of strategies to modify or replace maladaptive behaviors.
-Engage in professional learning opportunities to expand the depth and breadth of student learning outcomes through participating in seminars, workshops, or by conducting research independently or with community partners.
-Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping related to each student's BIP and IEP goals and objectives.
-Coach and support colleagues in the implementation of BIPs, as well as behavior modification and management across academic environments.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by district or building administration, as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements:
-Ability to travel between school district buildings, as well as to and from school.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
-Comprehensive understanding of Special Education Law, policies, procedures, and best practices regarding specialized instruction.
-Ability to implement accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of each individual student
-Ability to convey information to colleagues and parents/guardians appropriately regarding a student's performance, strengths, areas of concern, and needs in a thoughtful and comprehensive manner.
-Ability to successfully conduct FBAs and implement BIPs
-Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
-Ability to reflect upon and implement changes within professional practices and instruction.
-Ability to establish and maintain appropriate and collaborative relationships with colleagues and parents/guardians
Certification/License:
-Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in education required
-Masters Degree preferred
-Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) Required
-Participation in DCF Mandated Reporter Training (upon hire)
Experience:
-Successful experience as a BCBA preferred
-Experience supervising paraprofessionals, BCaBAs, and/or behavior technicians preferred
