Job Title: Bartender/PM Server

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Mix and serve drinks to patrons, directly or through server. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores,and receiving clients or guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day or shift
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding drink service
  • Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
  • Clean bars, work areas, and tables; clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks
  • Any and all job duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software.

Other

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early and late shifts, weekends and holidays.
