General Purpose To provide food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in a friendly, enthusiastic professional and timely manner in order to maintain Sheraton’s high standard of customer service and to assure guest satisfaction.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complies with all NC laws regarding alcoholic beverage service.
- Follows TIPS, ABC, ALE (or equivalent training) guidelines for alcoholic beverage service.
- Takes orders and serves all food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to Sheraton guidelines and suggestive selling techniques.
- Maintains accurate control of guest checks and secures proper payment.
- Demonstrates full knowledge and understanding of the food and wine menus and alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Prepares, mixes and serves cocktails according to Sheraton standards.
- Maintains proper cleanliness and sanitization of bar areas, glasses and equipment throughout the shift.
- Responsible for maintaining proper uniform standards and personal hygiene standards including frequent hand washing.
- Complies with personal hygiene and food safety standards regarding food preparation and service.
- Follows all work safety guidelines and emergency procedures guidelines.
- Operates cash machine according to guidelines.
- Completes End of Day reports.
- Changes beer kegs and CO2 tanks.
- Sets up and takes down alcoholic beverage displays.
- Maintains inventory of wines and alcoholic beverages.
- Participates in team meetings and collaborates with other members of the Bar team to provide excellent service.
- Communicates with customers in a polite, understandable, and friendly manner and follows all customer service standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School or equivalent education required.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Bar tending or cocktail service experience in hotel or upscale restaurant.
- Good knowledge of liquor, beer, wine and mixology.
- Ability to describe and suggest beverages and menu items in a clear and accurate manner.
- Basic computational ability and basic computer skills.
- Ability to make change quickly and accurately.
- Available for flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
- Minimum age to serve alcohol in NC.
- TIPS Certified a plus
Working conditions:
- Typically bends, stoops, moves, lifts, squats, stretches and stands during the shift to perform food service and cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility to serve customers and perform other service and cleaning duties for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to be able to serve and maintain service standards in the Lobby Bar.
- Requires ability to lift and move boxes, racks and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Requires verbal fluency and good listening and hearing ability to communicate with other employees and customers.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Requires ability to manage stress and multiple customer demands.
- Most work is performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
