Location: We are seeking an experienced Bartender for theDenver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA).
Venue Description: The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is an organization in Denver, Colorado which provides a showcase for live theatre, a nurturing ground for new plays, a preferred stop on the Broadway touring circuit, acting classes for the community and rental facilities. It was founded in 1972.
Principal Function:
The Bartender will play a key support role within the Beverage Department, assisting to ensure product availability, quality, cost effectiveness, compliance, control and service for all beverages served throughout the unit. The Bartender assists with daily operations of the beverage department by supervising employee activities, as assigned, within bars, lounges, stands and other outlets where beverages are served. They will help to ensure that standards and policies for responsible alcoholic beverage service are enforced. The Bartender may assist with ordering, inventory controls and cash management within each beverage location. They will support customer service satisfaction by monitoring departmental policies and procedures and assisting with training of beverage service personnel.
Essential Responsibilities
Maximize Centerplate’s revenue and operational excellence through implementation and oversight of systems and policies related to the Beverage department.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of business;
- Ensures all aspects of beverage operations and events are completed in an efficient and effective manner.
- Contribute to goal of making Centerplate #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.
Qualifications/Skills
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year related experience required: Catering and/or Banquet bar operations, Restaurant Management or Institutional Food Service.
- Prior supervisory experience in food service.
- Must possess strong general knowledge of food and beverage operations procedures, controls, and administration as well as awareness and ability to perform all catering-related positions.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Keen ability to promote and participate in a team environment.
- Successful candidate must be willing to work a variety of shifts and be available as business demands require.
- POS Experience
You MUST have Scheduling flexibility - Hours will be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays - Typical shifts are from 5:00pm to 10:00pm but can change due to show schedule.
Other requirements include but are not limited to:
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts
- Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of the finance area.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
