We have two locations, one in Bannockburn where we roast all coffee, and one in Evanston where we bake. As a coffee roaster, we are very proud to say that we are USDA Certified Organic. Barista

Newport Coffee House has a small team dedicated to creating a uniquely crafted experience. There are two major components to being a barista at Newport Coffee House; coffee bar excellence and communication:

• Excellence with the quality of drinks - This requires non-stop attention to detail and dialing in for best coffee extraction together with maintaining a work environment that is clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Communication - Being a barista involves engaging with customers with a charismatic, positive, and service-oriented mentality. Determining and meeting customers' needs. Being able to communicate with your co-workers in a respectful, helpful and efficient manner.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Brewing and dialing in coffee (drip, espresso, pour over)
• Crafting espresso drinks including latte art
• Communicate in a friendly and effectively manner with guests
• Clean dishes and maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow safety and sanitation requirements
• Managing cash register and ticket system
• Restocking
• Making sure the shop is clean at all times
• Set up and maintain display

Requirements

• 1-3 years working as a barista
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Being able to work both weekdays and weekends
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Read, write and speak English
• Proficient in basic math

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
