Position: Barber Instructor Purpose: Barber instructors will be responsible for teaching students the skills they need to become barbers. This includes everything from how to cut hair and shave faces to customer service and business management. Barber instructors must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as inspire their students to work hard and strive for excellence.Supervisor: Principal and Director of Career CenterPayment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule, Teacher PayBenefits: According to the Master Agreement Contract Days: 200 days Qualifications:Hands-on experience as a barber (a minimum of 4 years)Current SC LLR instructor's license required Essential Functions:Support the philosophy and vision of Barnwell County School District.Participate in the professional development program of the school district.Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.Communicate and demonstrate researched-based instructional practices within your specified program that result in increased student performance.Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
General Responsibilities:Teaching new techniques and skills to students, such as how to perform basic haircuts or how to give a shampoo and conditioner treatmentMeeting with students individually to assess their progress and performanceReviewing student work to ensure compliance with safety regulationsSupervising students during on-the-job training, including providing feedback on performance and answering questions about the work environmentDemonstrating new techniques and educating students on the fundamentals of barbering, such as how to shave, how to perform facials, how to use clippers, how to use scissors, etc.Participating in continuing education programs to keep up with industry trends and advancements in technologyPerform duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of the Barnwell County Career Center.
