The Banquet Setup Manager is responsible for the all-event setup activities. Directs and motivates team while personally assisting in the physical set up of the function rooms (tables, chairs, dance floors, podiums, etc.) and executing events based on requirements and standards. Develops and directs team to provide consistent, high-quality service. Communicates expected performance and trains associates in processes. Monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
- 2-3 years' experience in a management/supervisory setup role in a large resort hotel or convention center.
- Using basic computer hardware and software.
- Thorough knowledge of all matters relative to the set-up requirements of an extensive, first-class resort banquet operation.
- Ability to safely move and set up banquet tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Ability to look ahead and forecast needs for up-coming groups.
- Ability to teach new practices and train with existing meeting forms.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be flexible in terms of working hours.
- Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment.
- Must possess outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation, and sophisticated communication skills.
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Greet all guests courteously, using the guest's name whenever possible.
- Remains observant and responds to each guest who passes through the conference center.
- Attending pre-conference meetings.
- Scheduling of the Banquet Set-up team.
- Attend regular catering, resume and department head meetings to obtain information of upcoming contracted functions.
- Knowledge of all meeting room sizes and capacities.
- Forecasting equipment needs for upcoming groups to ensure proper pars.
- Forecasting any rental needs that may be coming up for upcoming groups.
- Supervising Banquet Set-up Supervisors, monitoring Banquet staff and ensuring all tasks are being completed.
- Ensuring accuracy of banquet room set-up, refreshes, turns and teardowns.
- Being available for site inspections with clients.
- Ensure all room set-ups are accurate, timely and meet established standards.
- Reports suspicious people, behavior, and vehicles to Security.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Any additional reasonable requests made by your supervisor, leader, or executive member.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or combination of four years' relevant education and experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
- Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.
