POSITION SUMMARY: The Banquet Manager is directly responsible for the planning, preparation, set-up, service, break-down and cleanup of breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, receptions, and other group events. This position provides supervision, leadership and direction to Banquet staff in both front and back of house. They are responsible for ensuring that events are executed smoothly and in accordance with guest specifications, to include linens, décor, set up, menu and all aspects of service.

- Schedule and supervise banquet staff to ensure proper execution of event with a high level of guest satisfaction
- Places orders all non-food items and coordinates with banquet staff and banquet chef to ensure all items needed are in place
- Understand hotel policies and procedures as they apply to the position. Knowledgeable in issues such as fire, accident and loss, theft, emergency procedures, gambling, liquor sales, consumption and Health and Fire Department codes
- Work directly with group contact regarding specific requirements from start to finish, including verifying pre-arranged start and end times of functions, audio visual equipment, signage and handling of last minute changes
- Maintain inventory of banquet equipment and repair
Other Specific Job Functions:
- Coordinate the daily event and set up requirements, along with food and beverage service
- Obtaining a signature on the BEO and banquet check at the end of event from POC
- Attend weekly BEO/Catering meetings to review details of schedule functions
- Perform continual inspection of all areas under jurisdiction to ensure standards
- Prepare work orders for the maintenance of these areas
- Advise EVS staff of areas in need of attention
- Provide guidance and training to banquet staff regarding all procedures of food and beverage service
- Maintain good working relationships with members of other departments and serves as a liaison between departments
- Manage the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company’s core service standards and brand attributes

RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT
- Recognize and acknowledge when Guests are becoming intoxicated and/or are intoxicated
- Monitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive Guests and promptly bring to a Manager’s attention
- Refuse further service of alcohol to intoxicated Guests in a courteous and safety-minded manner
- Responsible for accurately checking Guest identification
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as Company and/or departmental policies/procedures
- Comply with all state and federal liquor laws

Requirements:Required:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of Banquet or Restaurant Management experience
- Working knowledge of catering sales systems such as Delphi
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Culinary Union bargaining agreement (as required)
- Knowledge of F&B operations and procedures
- Sound judgment and knowledge of banquet operations
- Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines with particular attention to details
- Able to work under pressure dealing with multiple work assignments and meeting deadlines, and to make decisions and work independently
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms
- Working knowledge of Excel, Delphi, Info Genesis, SWS and MMS
- Operating experience with basic audio visual
- Knowledge of Culinary Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and split shifts
- Maintain neat, professional, and functional appearance
Preferred:
- College degree preferred
- Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary language
- Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
