Job Description
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Baker is responsible for mixing and baking ingredients to produce donuts and other baked food items.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow recipes for making baked goods.
- Check products for quality, and identify damaged or expired goods.
- Set oven temperatures, and place items into hot ovens for baking.
- Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.
- Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets, and bake in production ovens or on grills.
- Set time and speed controls for mixing machines, blending machines, or steam kettles so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.
- Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.
- Observe color of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, or conveyor speeds accordingly.
- Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.
- Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations, and perform maintenance or cleaning, as necessary.
- Adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the number of items to be baked.
- Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes.
- Decorate baked goods, such as cakes or pastries.
- Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products.
- Operate slicing or wrapping machines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and meet expectations within the company.
- Knowledge of general baking principles and understanding of a wide variety of recipes.
- Excellent knowledge of safety, health rules, and quality controls.
- Excellent understanding of imperial systems and metrics of measurements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to assist in the day-to-day operations within the workplace.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma preferred.
- Restaurant or bakery experience preferred.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, twist and turn body.
- Ability to traverse all parts of the store quickly.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
- This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
