Background Administrator
The Background Administrator will perform background investigation support functions in support of the US Army PSI-CoE, APG, Maryland in accordance, including but not limited to, the administrative processing, validation, initiation, review, customer assistance, and submission of PSI requests for the U.S. Army. The Word Processor will be a part of a team providing Customer Support Center (CSC) services (call center and group mailbox) to Applicants and Requesters using the call center identification numbers/agents in order to utilize the CSC functionality at the PSI-CoE. *This position is contingent on award/funding*
In this role you will….
  • Perform tasks to support the processing, validation, initiation, review, call center/helpline, and submission functions associated with background investigation requests.
  • Follow the detailed instructions to execute tasks contained in the PSI-CoE Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), a working document and is changed/updated to support the mission and operational requirements.
  • Process, validate and initiate incoming investigation requests.
  • Initiate valid SF86 investigation form update requests within two working days and 100% of valid investigation form update requests within three working days; 98% accuracy and completeness in initiating investigation requests.
  • Process incoming mail and hard copy FP cards.
  • Follow the steps outlined in the PSI-CoE SOP related to mail handling and hard copy FP processing; scan and submit accurate and complete FP cards 95% of time within two working days of receipt and 100% of FP cards submitted within three working days of receipt.
  • Review completed SF8x investigation form (SF-85, SF-85P, and SF-86) to ensure compliance with ISP standards.
  • Ensure appropriate sections/issues of SF8x documents that are requiring updated/additional information are provided back to the Applicant electronically for corrections to be made.
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma and 1-3 years of personnel security/human resources related experience.
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • DOD Secret Clearance is required
Other Requirements:
  • May be required to move equipment/files weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Requires ability to consistently perform repetitive tasks including filing and scanning
  • May require sedentary work at least 50% of the time
  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned
