OVERVIEW:
Carlson School of Management is searching for a second-level audio/visual and user Support Professional to meet the continual evolution of Audio Visual Hyflex Classroom and processes in support of increasing program and course delivery needs. The individual will design and Support Carlson School of Management (CSOM) audio/visual systems to meet the digital communication needs of hybrid modalities, remote meetings, live events, and everyday collegiate classes.

Compensation: Hiring Range: $70,000 - $75,000/yr. (depending on qualifications)
Responsibilities:
HyFlex and General Classroom Technical Support (50%)

  • Administers and maintains HyFlex classroom systems and equipment such as: classroom computers, video projectors, displays, document cameras, video collaboration systems and applications.
  • Administers and maintains traditional classroom technology such as workstations, cabling and interfaces, and human interface devices.
  • Performs systems configurations and maintenance to ensure optimum performance and connectivity.
  • Modifies installation scripts, tests, and programs to meet defined requirements.
  • Continually trains IT student employees and IT staff in the operation and first-level troubleshooting of classroom systems and technology and maintains and updates knowledgebase.
  • Acts as the primary contact and escalation point for current classroom technology systems, including providing direct technical support to the organization’s internal users and visiting external customers/vendors. Often resolves issues escalated by the Service Center or other areas of support.
  • Directly addresses issues of moderate difficulty that can be resolved through a combination of standard procedures, research, and creative problem solving.
  • Escalates issues appropriately to senior CSOM A/V engineers and/or The Office of Classroom Management.

Design, Procure, and Install Classroom and Departmental Audiovisual Systems (20%)

  • Designs Carlson School of Management audiovisual systems to meet the current and future needs of the School, collaborating directly with Leadership, Faculty, and Instructional Design
  • Implements established best practices and adheres to University purchasing and vendor guidelines.
  • Performs A/V systems programming and existing code revision in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Installs various common A/V elements throughout the school, including TVs, projector systems, cameras and audio systems.

Audio/Visual Conference, Event, and Meeting Support (20%)

  • Works with others in the CSOM A/V team to engage and Support conference, webinar and meeting organizers and/or departmental teams by planning and practicing audio/visual conference scenarios; ensuring events are conducted with security best practices, and accessibility for all participants.
  • When necessary, performs direct and in-person support of high-profile meetings and events.
  • Provides secondary support to on-premise and virtual conferences, webinars and meetings that require audio/visual elements and Support.
  • Researches, discovers and shares new and/or improved capabilities of audio/visual components and applications with peers and Carlson consumers.
  • Regularly tests and evaluates system configurations and practices to ensure optimum performance.

Customer Service/Leadership/Teamwork/Communication (10%)

  • Consults with customers and stakeholders to identify infrastructure system requirements and recommends technology, hardware and software, and installation plans.
  • Creates, reviews and updates formal written documentation for internal use by others in support areas.
  • Utilizes Service Center and IT student employees, and the University ticketing system (TDX) to implement and recommend process improvements, issue management, and resolutions.
  • Subject-matter lead for 20-30 undergraduate student workers, responsible for task assignment, training, guidance, and involvement in hiring, promotion, or staffing decisions.

Qualifications

MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the areas of AV/classroom technology installation, configuration, and Support or a comparable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Commitment to support the University’s goal of creating a positive and inclusive campus climate for all.
  • Ability to work selected evenings and weekends; subject to semester course and building event schedules. Works with the supervisor to determine additional coverage needs.
  • Experience with enhanced video conferencing components and systems such as Zoom and Zoom Room administration, camera systems, microphones, document cameras, portable devices and other related classroom technologies.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend/crouch/crawl around furniture.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated skill in valuing and actively promoting diversity in all workflows.
  • Prior experience in a Higher Education environment, interacting and Supporting the wide ranging technology use cases of faculty, academic support staff, and students.
  • Experience with enterprise Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) systems; notably ticket management processes, reporting.
  • Previous experience in mentoring and training new hires.
