Job description

The Linden Generation Station is an 800 MW natural gas/butane gas fired combined cycle co-generation plant located at Railroad and Chemical Avenues within the Phillips 66 refinery. The plant consists of five gas turbine generators exhausting into five triple pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG’s). The HRSG's are connected to a common steam header which supplies steam to three steam turbines and the adjacent refinery.

Opportunity Summary

The Auxiliary Operator (AO) is pivotal in maintaining the power plant's seamless operations, overseeing tasks such as monitoring, water chemistry analysis, and contributing to start-up and shutdown procedures. Their role extends to executing routine inspections, handling hazardous materials responsibly, and ensuring the proper functioning of critical systems. With responsibilities spanning from operational tasks to environmental compliance and safety measures, the Auxiliary Operator plays a key role in the overall efficiency and reliability of the power plant.

Primary Duties

  • Monitor the normal operations of the power plant and conduct routine water chemistry analysis.
  • Assist in the start-up and shutdown of power plant systems, contributing to overall power plant operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the Discharge Prevention, Containment, and Countermeasures (DPCC) Plan. Handle hazardous materials and wastes safely and environmentally responsibly.
  • Operate isolated control panels for Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), turbines, or generators, including start-up and shutdown. Operate major auxiliary apparatus such as air compressors, boiler feedwater treatment systems, and generator cooling systems.
  • Perform operating tests, inspections, and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment to achieve proper operating conditions.
  • Execute orders from the Control Room Operator at isolated panels for clearing equipment or making it ready to service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures. Clear, tag, test, and safely tape these operations.
  • Maintain logs as assigned and provide on-the-job training to assigned personnel.
  • Assist in control room operations.
  • Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.
  • Assist maintenance personnel during the shutdown of the unit.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
