The primary responsibility of the Automation Technical Service Engineer is to collaborate with Sealed Air's customers and internal engineering team in managing automation equipment designed for the food industry. This position requires substantial engagement with customers. The Automation Technical Service Engineer is tasked with coordinating the testing, installation, training, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new Automation Solutions at customer locations. Additionally, this role involves mentoring and training Technical Service Representatives to proficiently handle equipment automation as part of their routine service tasks. A comprehensive understanding of our materials and general food processing in the markets we serve is essential. 75%+ overnight travel is required.
- This candidate must be able to work alone or in a team environment with Customers, Engineers, Technical Service, and Sales personnel
- Work with Engineering in the selection or design of automation solutions to fit Customer applications
- Testing of new automation solutions or expanded applications of existing automation solutions
- Coordinate with multiple functional areas (Supply Chain, Sales, Engineering, Technical Sales, etc) for new automation solution sales and installations
- Responsible for training, start-up, and commissioning of new automation solutions at Customer locations
- Responsible for providing design/performance feedback to Engineering for enhancement of automation solutions
- Mentor / train Technical Service Reps on portfolio of automation equipment to enable them to support automation at Customer locations
- Actively support sale of Automation services to SEE customers
- Good communication and writing skills
- Strong electrical/mechanical knowledge
- Must be able to read an electrical schematic
- Should have good organization skills
- Mechatronics degree or equivalent work experience required
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology (2 or 4 year) desired
- Understanding PLC ladder logic preferred
- Previous experience with automation desired
- Working knowledge of Food processing desire
- Experience using MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)
- Hands on experience & ability to work with contractors to install & startup automation systems
- Ability to meet Technical Service challenges with creative and innovative solutions
- Requires 75% overnight travel
