Job Title: Automation Engineer
Responsibilities of the Automation Engineer
EDC Consulting LLC (EDC) is seeking candidates for an Automation Engineersupporting the U.S. Army in Radford, VA.
The Automation Engineer will:
- Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the automation framework for supporting the environments, including HashiCorp Terraform and Vault, Red Hat Ansible Tower, and GitLab Ultimate.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines and automated configuration management for the solution.
- Work with hosted customers of to provision customer enclaves utilizing the automation framework.
- Harden the automation tools per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
- Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of any automation issues.
- Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
- Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
- Promote automation concepts, processes, and benefits across the organization.
- Review and document "as-is" IT environments, perform a gap analysis to articulate automation options and recommendations to improve the current state.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of hands-on experience or Master's Degree with 10+ years of hands-on experience.
- Senior-level experience with Terraform, Vault, Ansible Tower, and GitLab.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environments, including activities around automated network configurations, server deployments, software provisioning, monitoring, and testing.
- Knowledge and experience with containerization and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across the automation framework.
- Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM) – preferred.
- CompTIA Security+ Certified
- Active DOD Security Clearance
