Controls Engineer
Sapience Automation provides turnkey solutions for industrial customers who utilize robots and automation for coating, material handling, packaging, dispensing, inspection and other applications. Role and Responsibilities: Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer role is a core role for the success of Sapience. The roles available are either Software/PLC Programming only or a role that includes both Electrical Panel Design and Software/PLC Programming. Responsibilities include:
Software Programming
· Executing the installation, debug, and production launch of the equipment for robot systems during the pre-build at Sapience and the site installation.
· Designing, developing, and implementing PLC programs to control robot systems with Allen Bradley (required), Siemens (optional), and ToyoPUC (optional) PLCs.
· Testing programs during the Factory Automation Test (FAT) / Modular Build phase of the projects at Sapience’s facility
· Implementing and testing programs at the customer’s facility
· Providing remote support to Sapience team members on site via remote connection
· Provide project status updates
Control Panel Design (Optional)
· Design control panels, electrical controls, safety hardware and pneumatic controls for robot automation systems
· Work with vendors and Sapience purchasing to quote and procure systems
· Oversee the vendor panel build process to ensure panels are built to specifications
· Support the engineers that are installing, testing, and debugging the system
· Create drawings of the system design
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
· 3+ years of experience in the robotics industry
· Post high-school degree in a technical discipline
· Strong written and spoken language skills
· Proficient on PCs and Microsoft Office applications
· Proficient at reading technical drawings
· Ability to troubleshoot and debug electrical control systems
Additional Notes
· Occasional travel to customer sites to support system installations and production support required.
