***We are interested in hiring experienced and new graduate Audiologists. The Audiology practice at Driscoll Children's Hospital enjoys a referral base that includes pediatric ENT, neurology, oncology, and craniofacial surgeons. The referral base also includes community sub-specialists and local pediatricians.
The audiology team is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and interpreting hearing disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings and providing amplification evaluation and interventions to children from 0 to 21 years old. The following services are offered by audiology at Driscoll Children's Hospital: behavioral testing, electrophysiologic testing, amplification (hearing aids, bone conduction hearing devices, and cochlear implants), and evaluation of auditory processing disorders.
Many opportunities for mentorship and continuing education are available through Driscoll Audiology. The current audiology team of 5 staff is passionate about their work and generous with their expertise. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish is also preferred but not required.
Driscoll Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Services serves a tertiary care children's
hospital in Corpus Christi. The department supports cardiac, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units, medical-surgical units including oncology, neurology, and orthopedics, and the full spectrum of pediatric specialty physician practices. In addition, the outpatient rehabilitation clinic is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.***
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide Audiology services to patients of the Driscoll Children's Health System. To assist with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
  • Provides amplification and/or assistive technology to appropriate candidate.
  • Educate parents and professionals on areas relating to hearing sensitivity, auditory processing and remediation of hearing loss.
  • Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
  • Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
  • Completes required documentation to support dispensing and purchasing hearing aids.
  • Completes required documentation for newborn hearing screening program.
  • Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings. Participates in departmental meetings.
  • Participates in process improvement.
  • Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base. Informs Manager of any difficulties.
  • Maintains billable productivity level as required.
  • Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
  • Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
  • Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
  • Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
  • Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department. Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children's Hospital business.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree in Audiology; OR
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Au.D.) or equivalent.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.
  • REQUIRED: Current Texas Licensure as an Audiologist Current BLS certification
