Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Computer Systems
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Google Docs a plus
- General knowledge of professional phone interaction
- General knowledge of effective oral and written communication practices
- Demonstrated ability to multitask
- Demonstrated ability to file document chronologically and alphabetically
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele
- Must be a student currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at Western Nevada College
- Must possess an unexpired class C driver's license and be able to pass the WNC driver safety course
Not Required but Helpful
- Knowledge of Windows, Mac OSX , and iOS Operating Systems
- Experience operating video cameras
- Experience with Audio-Visual Technology
- Video editing skills (Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere)
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to have vision, good listening, and speaking skills. The employee maybe required to sit and or stand for extended periods of time.
The employee is occasionally required to walk distances, reach with arms and hands, climb ladders, kneel, or crawl. The employee will sometimes need to lift up to 50 pounds.

Summary for Audio-Visual Technology Assistant:
- The A-V Technology Assistant will be key in supporting Digital Campus & Technology role in providing instructional and audio-visual technology support in classrooms, learning spaces,
meeting spaces, and special events for the Western Nevada College Community.
Duties & Responsibilities may include:
- Answer all incoming phone calls and respond appropriately to all phone inquiries
- Complete administrative tasks and offering excellent customer service
- Assist with technology support for both in-person and remote video classes
- Assist with physical setup or installations of equipment on campus, including running a-v cables, taping cables to floor, positioning speakers, tri-pods, setting up mobile projection screens, etc.
- Assist with department's online work order requests, following procedures to communicate customer requests to technicians
- Assist with organizing and posting equipment and service request orders
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- Data collection and entry for inventory reports
- Pick up and deliver audio-visual equipment around campus
- Model appropriate behaviors that support the department culture and vision
- Attend training and other meetings as required
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
- Assist with department projects
- Other duties as assigned
Decisions & Judgement
- How to direct phone calls and respond to online equipment and service forms
- How to position and frame subjects in video frame with remote
- How to position sound systems, projection screens, and a-v cords
