About the role:

We are looking for several ATO Information System Stewards (ISSO) to use their experience to help the Veterans Affairs (VA) discover and mitigate their cybersecurity risks, understand, and apply policies to respond to requests for information on cyber best practices, conduct risk assessments for specialized devices, support ATO activities for RMF steps 0-6, and ensure the appropriate operational security posture is maintained.

Location: Remote, U.S.

What you'll do:

• Manage complex system records using the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) application.
• Supporting system Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and developing artifacts, control implementation details, and POAMs.
• You will produce detailed system documentation and updates and work closely with system owners and ISSOs to carry out ATO support responsibilities. You will collaborate with the client to translate security concepts into recommendations for actionable, implementable solutions to assist the client in making informed security decisions.
• You will perform very detail-oriented system documentation and updates and collaborate closely with system owners and ISSOs to execute ATO support duties.
• Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) expertise, RMF automation, and Comply to Connect.
• Capacity to facilitate meetings, analyze authorization documents and associated artifacts against authorization requirements to identify gaps, develop a plan to address outstanding authorization requirements, and coordinate directly with system team stakeholders.

What you'll need:

• Master’s degree in technical discipline with 5 years plus of experience OR 10 additional years of experience in lieu thereof i.e. total of 15 years of experience. 
• Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security controls, the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) security documentation tool, the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and security compliance processes.
• Experience with the requirements of the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and the Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM).
• Experience with assessing NIST security and privacy controls and maintaining Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) .
• Experience with Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) tools (e.g., eMASS or RiskVision). 
• Experience with providing guidance for the NIST security and privacy controls and for providing sufficient documentation and artifacts for each control in a GRC tool. 

What's desired to have:

• Previous experience supporting federal or state government agencies including the Veterans Affairs.
• Advance security certifications: CISSP, CISA, CISM etc.
• Experience with medical device security and privacy controls.
