As an ATC/MA in a busy orthopaedic practice, you will be responsible for maintaining an effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow in the office along with assisting physicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Arrive 15 min prior to first scheduled patient and get rooms and computers ready for clinic
- Room patients, complete intake on each patient then present to provider
- Remove stitches, staples, or cast/splint, dress any open wounds and fit patients with DME per provider protocol
- Input X-ray orders, draw up injections, get ultrasound ready and schedule MRI, CT, bone scan, labs, EMG per provider
- Fill out office forms and forms for patient (PT script, med script, work notes)
- Break down and clean room at end of clinic, unpack shipments, put away supplies and change out sharps containers
- Soak, clean, pack instruments and run through autoclave

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach above the shoulders. The employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Education and/or Experience
- Previous customer service experience REQUIRED
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) REQUIRED
- Previous Athletic Training or Medical Assisting experience preferred
- Athletic Training Certification through the National Athletic Training Association preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to perform basic math functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding in carrying out detailed written or oral instructions or requests.
- Ability to work with a wide range of personalities in a courteous, effective and efficient manner.
- Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
